INDRANIL SEN has become a household name among the Bengalis with his melodious voice with a varied vocal base, a distinctive tonal quality and strong pronunciation. Indranil's style of mixing the theme-linked mood and vocal depth is magnetically elegant. Born into a family with a rich musical tradition, Indranil has been groomed into performing traditional, folk, Tagore, and post-Tagore modern Bengali repertoire. Indranil has undoubtedly carved a niche, perhaps from the very beginning. His first hit which brought him a gold disc was a compilation of Tagore's Patriotic Compositions Tomar Akash Tomar Batash (1993). He never looked back there after as his series of albums, namely, Durer Balaka and Akash Dakay pushed his popularity forward. Indranil has also sung for numerous playbacks for movie and teleserials. He was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the only singer recording as many as 172 songs for teleserials.
