Roopa Ganguly's life as a performing artist started when she was in college. She looked it up as a task. That is her usual way of looking at life. She started her film debut with Saheb and shot into prominence when she portrayed Daupadi in the TV Serial epic Mahabharata. She followed this up with Mrinal Sen's Ek Din Achanak,Nischyay, Janani. Having seena nd experiencing the different aspects of cinema, making, she took a venture in directing a short telefilm in Zee alpha "Akta Swapno Niye". Her recent production venture on the big screen has been with "CHHOY". It is a combination of six short films.
