Nivedita's
love for poetry started from her early days. She received
her primary education from her parents. Next stop was
'BaniChakra' Institution where she received tutelage under
the famous recitation maestro Pradip Ghosh. Recitation
of poems drew her towards stage acting. Once started she
made herself an able and well sought actress for many
directors, producers of the theater industry. She graduated
in stage acting from the famous drama team 'Padatik'.
The teacher was Sree Shaymananda Jalan. Her first appearance
on the 'Academy' stage was for the drama 'Badal Aye' authored
by Amritalal Nagar. The name of character was 'Dipa' She
made an impression on the spectators by her superb acting
ability. Then on she was the actress select for many important
female characters in both Bengali and Hindi dramas. She
worked under many directors of 'Padatik Theater group,
namely Biplanu Maitra, Kaustab Dattagupta, Debashish Chacrabarty,
Mainul Hauk and Shyamananda Jalan.
She
also participated in the role of very important characters
in Rakto Karabi , Bali and Akash Kusum under the directorship
of Shib Mukhopadhyya. This is when she met Debesh Chattopadhya.
She then acted in the leading female role of 'Rikhia'.
That is what made her a subject of discussion in many
news papers. Now she won the hearts of audience/ spectators
as an actress. Then Raja Sen and Ashoke Biswanathan picked
her play in the television dramas. Her first appearance
in TV was in 'Parinita' directed by Raja Sen. Then she
acted in the role of a schizophrenic in the Tele-film,
Aguntuk directed by Ashoke Biswanathan. She acted in many
Tele-Film and Tel-serials.
When she is at the peak of her success she got to move
with her husband to London. But she did not give up. She
received a 'Diploma' in acting from 'London School Of
Drama'. She started a school for teaching Bengali to the
UK born children. She Published an audio CD of recitation
named as'Smriti Satya Bartaman' with Pradip Ghosh. Nivedita
performed in the Drama cum poetry on the life story of
Taslima Nasrin. The name the piece is 'Vumadhya Sagare
Sigal. She together with Saumitra Mitra and Taslima gradually
became famous artist in England. Nivedita acted in the
role of a call girl named Kabita in the drama called 'Zahoor
ka Hotel'. Parvez Alam costarring with the world-renowned
actor Baddi Uzzamman and Rajesh Joshi, Anawar Hossain,
Parvej Alam directed the Theater. The drama was highly
acclaimed in the newspapers of England. Sangita Datta
assistant to the topnotch film director Rituparna Ghosh
has selected Nivedita. She has been give the part of Malati
in Tagore's 'Sadharan Meye' She is very busy now having
to work on several other acting roles in Dario Fo's 'Woman
Alone', and Nora in Dolls House on England stage.
Nivedita started as recitation artist trained by Pradip
Ghosh. Then she emerged as a stage actress in Kolkata.
She acted in many important female roles in both Hindi
and Bengalee dramas. She worked under many directors like
Biplandu Maitra, Kaustab Dattagupta, Debasish Chakrabarty,
Mainul Hauk and Shyamananda Jalan. Some of her TV movie
roles were in Parinita and Aguntuk directed by Raja Sen
and Ashoke Biswanathan respectively.
Nivedita moved to London, UK, with her husband but did
not give up her acting career. She had continued her studies
in acting and received diploma from 'London School of
Drama' Some of her noteworthy performances in London were:
' Vumadhya Sagare Sigal' based Taslima Nasrin's biography,
Parvez directed theater 'Zahoor Ka Hotel, 'Sadharan Meye',
a film by renowned film director Rituparna Ghosh, and
on England stage Dario Fo's 'Woman Alone; and Nora in
Dolls House. An acting career acclaimed every step of
the way by the media and the audience both in Kolkata
and London.
